A video of an incident in a Chinese robot factory has started debate after a CCTV footage showed a humanoid robot attacking out at its handlers. This incident has arisen so many concerns about the potential risks of modern artificial intelligence AI. The video is now widely shared on social media and started fears about the rapid advancement of advanced robotics and AI and its future. 

As seen in the video, a Unitree H1 humanoid robot suspended from a construction rope suddenly started malfunctions. This is raising the fears about the safety and reliability of advanced robotics system. The captured video shows two men observing the robot’s movements and testing its capabilities. But suddenly, the robot loses control and started wildly flailing its arms and legs in a chaotic way. This looks like in a sci-fi horror movie scene.

As the men scramble to avoid the uncontrolled robot’s movements, it lurches forward, dragging its stand and sending a computer and other items crashing them to the floor. Finally, one of the engineers was able to control the robot by repositioning its stand.

After this incident Unitree robots have made headlines multiple times due to various incidents. In February this year, shocking footage captured a humanoid robot going rogue and charging at a crowd of festival. The video, showed the robot, clad in a vibrant jacket, suddenly lunging towards a group of stunned onlookers gathered behind a barricade.

There have been previous few cases of rogue Robotic movement making headlines. There was an incident of a robot that attacked an engineer at Tesla’s Texas factory. In many of these robotics cases, software malfunctions have been identified and highlighting the importance of robust testing and quality control in AI development.
