China marked a major leap in internet infrastructure. The country just launched world’s first 10G broadband networks. The network was launched in Sunan , Hebei Province. This outstanding achievement by China is the result of collaboration between Huawei and China Unicom. This is designed to offer download speeds of up to 9,834 Mbps. its upload speeds of 1,008 Mbps, and latency under 3 milliseconds.

The 50G Passive Optical Network (PON) technology, which powers the 10G network, improves data transmission over the current fiber-optic based infrastructure. High-bandwidth uses of this technology include cloud computing, virtual and augmented reality, streaming 8K video, and integrating smart home devices. For example, a 20GB file can now be downloaded in less than 20 seconds and cloud apps, virtual reality and smart home features.
With this 10G broadband, the same movie can be downloaded in less than 20 seconds. With this move, China is now leading the world in broadband technology, going ahead of countries like the UAE and Qatar, which also have high-speed internet.

Experts say the launch puts China ahead in next-gen internet services, benefiting sectors like telemedicine, online learning, industrial automation and so many sectors.
This advanced achievement positions China ahead of other countries in the race to roll out 10G internets networks. Summarily, Others countries like UAE and South Korea also have introduced advanced broadband networks but China’s 10G service is the first in the world.

This upgrade aligns with China’s broader digital strategy, which includes increasing broadband access, improving cloud infrastructure, and preparing networks for the expected growth of smart devices and artificial intelligence for the future purpose.
