According to the recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, “iPhone is seemingly integrating Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite network into the iPhone. This type of new feature for iPhone is expected to function similarly to the Emergency SOS via Satellite capability, allowing its users to contact emergency services without a SIM card or Wi-Fi connectivity.
Apple company based in Cupertino has collaborated with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, the creator of the Starlink satellite network, along with a US telecommunications provider to initiate beta testing.
This type of Emergency SOS via Satellite feature was first introduced with the iPhone 14 models in 2022 in the United States and Canada.

Set up & turn Emergency SOS on or off. If you’re in an emergency, you can use your phone to trigger emergency actions like calling for help, sharing your location with your emergency contacts, and recording video. Important: Your phone must have a SIM for Car crash detection to work
Gurman’s report notes that, “Apple’s partnership with Starlink is to provide similar functionality. This service will serve as an alternative to Apple’s existing in-house service and will initially be restricted to the United States.
Last December, T-Mobile announced that its users could start signing up for a beta program to test connectivity through Musk’s Starlink satellites in the first week of January 2025.

In this matter, Musk responded to the news on social media and said that the current Starlink technology supports images, music, text messaging and podcasts, but video support and voice calls will be added shortly after. This partnership between two massive companies brings uninterrupted service to its users.
Apple is working with T-Mobile on this project, and the service is currently undergoing beta testing. To use these features, users can sign up for an “early version” of the Starlink service on select iPhone models.
